What is Joy?
Joy is magic, its life and living itself. Its simple, internal and eternal. It’s a way of being that accepts and loves.
Happiness is great, yet Joy is this dialed up as its not dependent on others, circumstances and my world around me. Joy, it’s me and I’m here advocating for it.
Joy isn’t ignoring the unpleasant emotions that come with being human, its knowing and trusting that Joy is there even in the low moments in life. Regardless of what is transpiring, Joy exists and is in and beyond what is happening to me. This creates an emotional resilience that’s very handy to have in my toolkit.
Why Joy?
To me joy isn’t a part of life, its the point to life.
Being on public transport, walking around the city or in the shopping center, I am saddened to see so much lack of Joy. There is lots of Joylessness going round these days. It’s unusual for someone to be smiling. I’m one of the weirdo’s who deliberately make eye contact and beam my smile in their direction. In many cases they look away – unable to hold my gaze or avoid looking my way at all – too uncomfortable. I get it, however I love it when I get a grin back – the message is received and the Joy transmission succeeds.
My Joyful state isn’t all is seems – don’t get me wrong, I’m an in my natural state a glass half full, see the positive side to everything sorta gal. However doing the work and down the rabbit hole, there are shadows in many corners. My overly positive exterior was driven by an over compensation of many levels – not knowing who I am, the mask of being the ‘good girl’ and not causing a fuss. Not being worthy of having needs and desires, let alone having these met. These are some of the parts I have discovered in my way of getting to know Joy better. By dissecting my relationship to the entity of Joy, I have discovered that of me which isn’t that or in alignment of Joy. To know true happy I must know unhappiness deeply, that is the same for Joy.
Joy means different things to different people. This is my Joy and what it means to bring it into the world. There are many many worthy human plights to fight for and bring our attention too. The state of our home – earth, focusing on the environment and its sustainability for the future of us and the animals we are custodians for. Providing life sustaining resources to all people, basics of shelter, food and water. All of these require advocacy for. Me I’m an advocate for Joy, my belief is that by us as individuals being advocates for our own joy, we make the world we live in the place we wish to be.
For me Joy is my medicine and purpose, through my journeying to discover joy for me, I’ve paved a way for my being and purpose to shine through.
My life is my message and my message is my Joy
With heart & soul,
AMxo
